Building the Church by Building a Chapel
Every prisoner's greatest need is a Savior. Yet the walls of Perry Correctional Institution, which keep inmates securely in, can often keep the Gospel out.
The chaplain's staff and many correctional ministries work inside the fence to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and disciple those who are incarcerated. They do so with great challenge. Inside the prison, there are spaces for eating, sleeping, recreation, education and visitation, yet there is no space for worship, no space for spiritual counseling, and no space for discipleship.
Christians across Greenville County are working to construct a chapel at Perry Correctional Institution in order to provide a sacred place for the "Church Behind the Wire" to thrive.
